We have both always known that we want children, and our story of pursuing adoption has been somewhat unique. Early in our marriage, we were involved in an orphan ministry in China. The children we got to care for often had special needs, but we quickly realized how loving they were with us, and how much they wanted to be loved.
When we later experienced infertility, our hearts were led to pursuing adoption rather than medical interventions to become parents. While we did try to adopt in China, God had different plans for us, and that adoption fell through. The desire to lead, teach, and love a child has never left our hearts, though. When we moved back to America we decided to keep our hearts open to this opportunity and pursue adoption again.
